Co-op Month! A Little Different This Year…

October is National Co-op Month, a time to uplift a national movement and raise awareness to a trusted, proven way to do business and build communities.

In a pre-COVID world, we’d normally have demos from local vendors, product sampling, raffle giveaways, or team up with other Philly Co-ops to celebrate our commonalities!

More member-owners means our collective power is strong and makes a difference in the lives of so many people including, our staff, our vendors and farmers, and our local economy.

This year, however, looks a little different. Thankfully, we’ll still have an in-store raffle for two winners to win products from some of the producer co-ops, employee-owned and local companies that we sell — Equal Exchange, Lancaster Farm Fresh Co-op, Cabot Cheese, Alaffia, Bob’s Red Mill & more! Enter from Mon., Oct. 12 through Thurs., Oct. 22. Winners announced on Fri., Oct. 23.

And, all month-long, we’re encouraging folks in our community to join the Co-op (either online or in-person) & sharing reasons why being part of one is important!

Fall Meeting2020 (1).png

This month, new and old member-owners alike can join us for our virtual member-owner orientation on Tues., Oct. 6 at 6pm.

Whether you want to brush up on your co-op history or learn more about what benefits the Mariposa has to offer, there's a little something for everyone.

Fall Member Meeting

As stated in our by-laws, Mariposa is required to hold two meetings per year to update our member-owners on important information regarding the Co-op. Our spring meeting was cancelled due to COVID-19, but we’re excited to announce that we’ll be going virtual for our fall meeting this year!

The Fall Member-Owner Meeting is Thurs., Oct. 22 from 6pm-7:00pm. Log on via Zoom to meet our newly-elected Board of Delegates, get an update from our general manager on the Co-op’s financial health, meet folks from our staff-led Education and Outreach Committee, and more! Make sure to RSVP for the meeting link and password. Need assistance? Email ownership@mariposa.coop or call 215-729-2121 x03. Hope to see you there.
