Make an equity payment
We are excited to introduce online equity payments for current member-owners!
When you fill out and submit the form below, you will be redirected to PayPal to select your payment amount and complete your transaction. You do not need a PayPal account to make a payment, only a valid card.
***If you are NOT currently a member-owner but are looking to join, you must do so in-store. Our cashiers are happy to help you with this process at our registers. If you have questions, please contact 215-729-2121 x03 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
It may take up to 3 business days for your equity payment to show up on your Mariposa shopping account. Once we have processed the payment onto your account, you will receive a confirmation email from Mariposa staff.
What is equity?
Equity is your investment into Mariposa Food Co-op and what makes you not just a member, but an owner with special benefits at the store. Equity is a one-time payment of $200 that can be paid all at once, or in installments of $25 every three months until you reach $200. Your equity is fully refundable if you choose to leave the Co-op, as long as Mariposa is in good financial health.
how do i know how much equity i hold?
In our quarterly reminder emails, we will include how much equity you currently hold on your account. You can also find this information on the top of your receipt each time you shop. If you have questions about equity or your previous payments, please reach out to Owner Services at email@example.com or 215-729-2121 x03.
How often will i be Reminded to pay?
While equity can be paid all at once in one $200 payment, most member-owners choose to pay in installments. One installment of equity is $25 and can be paid every three months either online or in-store. However, if you choose to make a larger payment of $100 (4 installments) for example, you will not be reminded to pay again for one year. Once you reach $200, you will no longer be reminded to pay equity.
If you are a Food For All recipient, you will not be asked to make your first equity payment for one year. After one year, you will be asked to begin making payments of at least $10 every three months at our registers until you reach $100 of personal equity.
What is the difference between equity and Patronage refunds?
Equity is your investment into the Co-op and stays on your account, in your name unless you choose to leave. Equity is what entitles you to the benefits of member-ownership.
Patronage refunds are an added benefit for member-owners if Mariposa makes a profit at the end of the year. If we do turn a profit, the Board then decides if we can share any of these profits with our member-owners. If we can distribute, member-owners will receive a patronage refund in the spring based on how much they shopped in the previous year.
