Koch’s Turkey Farm, Tamaqua, PA
Koch’s Turkey Farm is a pioneer in raising antibiotic-free turkeys. Farming since 1939, the Koch's farm meet the very strict Certified Humane® guidelines and Farm Animal Welfare Standards for Turkeys. Turkeys are fed an all vegetarian diet free of animal by-products or by-products of any kind such as out of date bakery goods, fish meal, or pet food by-products. The farm provides its turkeys with twice the amount of barn space as is required by normal commercial growing practices.
Koch’s Turkey Farm is GAP (Global Animal Partnership), a nonprofit charitable organization founded in 2008 that brings together farmers, scientists, ranchers, retailers, and animal advocates with the common goal of improving the welfare of animals in agriculture. The 5-Step Animal Welfare Rating Standards recognizes and rewards producers for their welfare practices, promotes and facilitates continuous improvement, and better informs consumers about the production systems they choose to support.
