We welcome and encourage all eligible member-owners to run for a seat on the Board.
This year we have SIX board delegate seats open
FOUR - Member-Owner at-large
ONE - Staff Member-Owner at-large
ONE - Staff-Elected; Member-Owner Confirmed

Among projects for the 2026-2027 board term, the Board intends to focus on financial performance, shopping experience excellence, board and staff development, engagement with member-owners and engagement with our community.

Term lengths vary and may include two years and three years. Board members will receive a 10% shopping discount for the work they do for the Co-op.  Candidates may attend the February through May board meetings to observe and learn, prior to assuming their voting privileges at the June Board meeting.  There will also be an orientation session prior to the June meeting.

You don’t need to have prior board experience to be a candidate!
The Board is looking for member-owners who are:

★ Dedicated to the mission and values of Mariposa Food Co-op
★ Willing to learn, including financial basics, Co-op governance and other areas as needed
★ Able to cooperatively participate in discussions, respecting opinions that may differ from yours
★ Able to participate in group decision making
★ Committed to supporting and communicating Board decisions with staff and member-owners
★ Willing to invest the time and energy needed to help complete the board’s work.

Terms/Eligibility: Any Mariposa member-owner in good standing and at least 18 years of age may run for the Board. Any person with a conflict of interest so continuing and pervasive that they are unable to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of a delegate with the Co-op shall not be qualfied to serve as a delegate (section 4.4 of our bylaws). Board members must also agree to following the Board’s Code of Conduct as well as all other policies, bylaws and applicable laws.

★ Complete the candidacy form, by Wednesday February 25th, 2026
You can do so by:
• completing the online form (see below)
• filling out the form included in the Board Candidate Packet and emailing it to ownership@mariposa.coop
or
• You can mail or bring the form to the Co-op in an envelope addressed to Elections / Mariposa Food Co-op

The statements that you write will be posted on our website and in- store for our member-owners to read on or before Wednesday, March 4th

★ Attend the Meet-the-Candidate forum on Wednesday, March 18th, at which member-owners will be able to hear from candidates and ask questions.

★ We recommend that you attend at least one Board meeting prior to the start of voting on April 6th 2026.
