Our fall special meeting will begin with consideration and voting by members on a proposed change to Co-op's Articles of Incorporation document. Following that, we’ll have brief updates from the Board, its Committees, and from the Co-op Executive Officer. There will be opportunities for member questions and input.
About the upcoming vote: A change to Pennsylvania law requires the co-op to update its Articles of Incorporation. Specifically, the proposal is to change from being a Nonprofit Corporation to being a Nonprofit Cooperative Corporation under Pennsylvania law.
The co-op was founded 55 years ago and legally formed before the Commonwealth had a statute for co-ops. While we expect that this change will not affect our operations, it does reflect and reaffirm our commitment to being a cooperative. Also, it’s required so that we can continue to use “co-op” in our name. A vote by members is needed to approve the change. The vote will be preceded by an introduction and discussion on the proposal.
Refreshments will be served.
We hope to see you on October 29th!
